S2E1: I'm back! Reviving the podcast with a slightly new direction

I'm back from my hiatus with fresh plans for the Quietly Thriving Artist podcast, and a little health update. The podcast will now focus on licensing art for hotels, restaurants, and other commercial spaces. And in future episodes, I'll share what I have learned over the past 9 years in this industry, and, of course, add the flavor of being an introverted artist with a chronic condition. The first episode is already out- listen to it right after this one!

• Listen to the first official episode of the season: Licensing Your Art for Hotels

• Join the conversation and come say "Hi!" on Threads

[00:00:00] Hey everyone, it's Patricia Vargas of the Quietly Thriving Artist, and I am so excited to be back from my very long hiatus that I took earlier this year, as you may have noticed my absence. And during my time off, I've had a lot of time to think about how it is that I want to move forward. Both with my art business and the Quietly Thriving Artist, with my new health condition, which I still don't have a whole lot of answers to.

[00:00:28] I'm just taking it day by day, and sometimes my condition greatly impacts my ability to operate normally. So I'm still trying to navigate that part. And so like for my art business, I really had to take out a lot of the physical labor part of running a business, and I've really doubled down on licensing. And because I've been focusing so much on licensing and how much it has helped me and supported me through this time, I started talking about it a lot on Threads for the Quietly Thriving Artist.

[00:01:02] And that conversation has really blown up. So I started to share a lot about how to license artwork, in particular to hotels, cruise ships, restaurants, multifamily homes, corporate buildings, healthcare, that kind of stuff. And I've been in that line of work for almost nine years. And like I said, I've been sharing some stuff over on Threads, and I've been getting a ton of questions.

[00:01:27] And so I would love to revive this podcast and really center it around that theme of licensing your art for hotels, restaurants, and other cool spaces. And of course, I'll be adding in the flavor of being an introverted artist with a chronic condition and social anxiety. So that's the direction that this podcast is going in.

[00:01:52] I really wanna thank everyone that has listened to all of the previous episodes. You have no idea how much it means to me that people have connected with the words in those episodes, and I've received some really lovely emails over it. So thank you again. And I do want to mention that the format of this podcast will be different from the previous episodes.

[00:02:14] So first, I am going to test out doing short seasons instead of trying to release an episode or two every single month. And so I might do like one or two seasons in a year. I'm still playing with that idea, and a lot of that is gonna be dependent on how I feel. So my energy levels, my capacity– all of those things. And I always encourage others to also consider everyday life and for the decisions that they make for their business.

[00:02:43] And so I am doing the same for myself. And second, each episode will also be somewhere between the seven to 15 minute range. They're gonna be short, but really packed with value. And third, they will be released weekly until the season ends. So the first episode is already out, and you can listen to that right now if the topic of licensing to hotels sounds interesting to you.

[00:03:13] I really hope you'll enjoy the new direction of this podcast. And if you're like, I don't really care about licensing, I totally get it, but that's what I'm gonna be talking about going forward. And I just wanna thank you for having listened to the previous episodes. But if you do wanna stick around for all of the new content, then I'm also equally as grateful to have you here with me.

[00:03:36] Okay? So that is it for me, and I will see you over in the next one.
