5 daily feel good affirmations to use in your art business
Affirmations are a great way to help cultivate a positive mindset toward growing your art business. They are most effective when they make you feel good when saying them out loud, or in your head, and when they feel true.
The problem with some of the more popular affirmations is that they can be a little over the top, and if we're being honest they just don't resonate.
For example, if you're trying to focus on more sales and you use an affirmation like:
"I generate massive amounts of sales"
or
"My art sells in droves"
or
"My business is overflowing with sales"
.... when it's really not, does that feel true? Does it resonate with your mind and body? Does it leave you feeling excited and pumped?
If the answer is yes, then by all means use what works for you!
But, if you're like me those types of affirmations just make me feel like I'm lying to myself which is not a good feeling and totally defeats the purpose of an affirmation!
Instead, I like to use gentler, less exaggerated affirmations that still encompass the idea of success.
Remember the idea is to feel good, energized, and supported like the universe has your back.
Here are my personal favorite affirmations.
Note: I use the word "universe" because that's what feels good to me. If you have another word for a higher power please feel free to use that instead when reading through this post.
"I am open to receiving money from the path of least resistance"
I love this one especially because I have multiple revenue streams in my business: prints, licensing, and business partnerships. By saying that I am open to receiving money from the path of least resistance means that I am not attached to making money from any one thing.
For example, one month my prints could be selling like hotcakes, and the next month not so much. But, then a giant unexpected licensing deal could come through, and so it didn't even matter that my print sales were low that month because I still made the money I wanted to make.
This has definitely happened to me on more than one occasion! Most especially when I'm particularly busy in my personal life. It's like the universe knows that I can't handle spending time printing and packaging orders, so it sends me money via an easier route.
This leads me to my next affirmation.
"Everything is always working in my favor"
Obviously, we know that when something goes "right" it was meant for us, but what about when things go "wrong"?
This affirmation embraces the good and the "bad" because, in those seemingly sh*tty moments, we can learn something that propels or pushes us to something better and greater.
Like when a licensing deal falls through, but then you learned that you avoided a legal mess, or when a collector decides to back out of buying a painting but then someone swoops in and buys it along with a few others!
It can sometimes take a while for us to see how things always work out in our favor, but if you pay close attention you'll start to see a pattern. The more that you recognize this pattern the more you can lean in and trust that everything is always working in your favor.
"I trust in the timing of the universe"
Similar to the affirmation above, this one leans into the idea that everything works for your greatest good. So even if you feel like you've "missed out" on something it could simply mean that it wasn't the right time and when it is the right time it will present itself again.
"If it's meant to be it will find me"
This goes hand in hand with the aforementioned affirmation. Trust that the things, opportunities, sales, collabs, and whatever else is meant for you will find you at the right time.
"I drop the need to know how it will happen and trust that it will happen"
I leave you with this final affirmation, and it's truly a powerful one. If you're like me, you might find yourself easily caught up in trying so damn hard to figure out the how of things.
How to get more sales, how to attract more collectors, how to land more licensing deals, how to get in a magazine, how to land a solo show, how to go viral on social media, how, how, how...
Now I'm not saying to not make an effort towards these things, but also don't get so hung up on them either. The "need-to-know-exactly-how-to-step-by-step" is like a giant energetic barrier. If you obsess over too much it can start to give off clingy desperate vibes and that's a red flag to the universe.
I know it's the hardest one to wrap your brain around. It feels counterintuitive, but I am telling you that this works.
Some, actually almost all, of the really cool "oh my god, I can't believe this is happening to me" stuff that I have experienced actually came through when I completely surrendered my chokehold on needing to know how to make XYZ happen.
Next time you find yourself obsessively trying to problem solve, stop, take a breath, and repeat this affirmation. Lean into the trust, and let the magic unfold.
So there you have it.
Those are my favorite 5 daily feel good affirmations to use in my art business.
